Tony Maksoud is the current Chairman of the QLD Referees’ Board and has been refereeing since 1983. A member of the Brisbane Association he controlled fixtures in the Brisbane and QLD State League competitions before being graded in the NSW Referees’ Association and officiating in the ARL Presidents’ Cup, Reserve and A Grades. In 1998 he returned to the QLD Cup where he controlled five grand finals before taking on the role of QLD Cup Video Referee in 2005.
Tony as also been actively involved in referee development as the Brisbane Association Coaching & Development Coordinator and the South East Referees’ Board Member (Coaching and Development). In 2000 he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal and in 2005 was named QRL Referee of the Decade.
