COMMUNICATION
- Communication between all officials should be clear and concise, a standard vocabulary must be used
- Give decision, not explanation. (That can be given at break in play if required)
- Keep voice at a calm level as much as possible, especially in Red Zone. Try and come across relaxed and calm

| '4 is off and Involved' | Inside 10m, Offside from kick or scrum |
| 'All off' | Offside from 10m and kicker |
| 'Chaser Interference' | Chaser cause attacker to change direction |
| 'Tight Right or Left' | Defender offside both sides of ruck goal line |
| 'Linked' | Player coming back on side gets involved with tackle or interferes |

Ball is propelled forward |
| FORWARD | Pass has gone forward |
| DRIVER | Attacking player interfering with a defender who is in the process of making a tackle. |
| SPLITTER | Moved mark - markers taken out of play |
| SHOOTER | Defender pressuring kicker by leaving early |
| LOST | Attacking team has lost the ball |
| STRIPPED | Ball has been intentionally stripped in tackle with two in the tackle |
| LEG PULL | Holding of the opposition players foot as he attempts to play the ball |
| HAND ON | Hand on ball while player is trying to play the ball |
| HELD BACK | Interference of attacking support player and Interference of player looking to charge down the ball |
| DOWNTOWN | Chasers leaving early on kick |
| BROKE EARLY | Back rowers broke from scrum before ball has emerged |
| INSIDE 40 | Ball kicked inside the 40m line |
| SLEEPER | Passive obstruction by ball-player's team mate, around ruck area and when a clearing kick is being taken |
